Working Groups Safe System Architecting Working Group (SSAWG)
The newly formed Safe System Architecting Working Group (SSAWG) is a joint initiative between the INCOSE UK Architecture Working Group and the Safety Critical Systems Club, with a vision of addressing systems safety through the promotion of choosing, using, and developing appropriate architectures. The group’s web page provides details on its aims and objectives - https://scsc.uk/gw.
The next meeting is scheduled for 7th August 2024, 3pm-5pm (BST), an online meeting link is available on the web page. Safe AI Working Group (SAIWG)

Safety Futures Initiative (SFI) Working Group
The Safety Futures working group meets once a month to bring together fresh perspectives, innovative ideas and insights. The Safety Futures is diligently working on developing a comprehensive roadmap to guide new safety professionals in exploring career paths across various industries. To supplement this, we have an upcoming initiative to create a University 'League' Table to rank universities based on their safety engineering courses and the career pathways they support. We are also looking to start a reverse mentoring programme where we can match more experienced people with new professionals for information exchange. The next monthly meeting is set for 6th August at 14:00 hours so please do reach out to khadijah.khatun@pennantplc.com if you would like to attend or if anything in the above paragraph takes your interest. We encourage anyone to get involved to help shape the future of safety engineering
careers.

An inquiry into how safe might be “safe enough” for automated vehicle technology must go far beyond the superficial “safer than a human driver” metric to yield an answer that will be workable in practice. View the article Human Factors in Functional Safety Assessment - Jonathan Wiggins
This paper provides a discussion on the physical and emotional factors which humans bring into the design, execution, and maintenance of a Functionally Safe System. View the article The Open Autonomy Safety Case Framework - Michael Wagner and Carmen Carlan.
A system safety case is a compelling, comprehensible, and valid argument about the satisfaction of the safety goals of a given system operating in a given environment supported by convincing evidence. Since the publication of UL 4600 in 2020, safety cases have become a best practice for measuring, managing, and communicating the safety of autonomous vehicles (AVs).
