Abstract:

This keynote provides a brief overview of the UK response to the Coronavirus, using a short series of STAMP Control Structure Models in combination with some high-level STAMP-based analysis. The control structure model(s) are used as a framework to tell a story about how the “response” evolved, along with how control actions, feedback and data / information flow formed critical interactions across the structure. Challenges in safe guarding people’s lives along with the economy are discussed, following on to how we could shape future responses & policies by using STAMP to create control structure models and using them as a basis for real world changes: engineering real society-level safety control structures.
