We present the method “SemAn” for the semantic analysis of electro-technological definitions appearing in IEC standards. SemAn is accompanied by a software tool, the SemAn Analyser, which outputs partial SemAn results in a pretty-printed and annotated format retaining the symbol-for-symbol syntax of the original definiens text. We discuss the purpose and use of this method and tool.
