In 2017 the world witnessed the horrific tragedy of the Grenfell Tower fire that claimed the lives of 72 people making it one of the deadliest UK residential fires. This resulted in a number of public enquiries and a raft of legislative changes aimed at improving safety of high-rise buildings both in new and existing developments. Laura Mills describes the legislative changes and assesses what progress has been made in ensuring fires of this magnitude never occur again.
