A public consultation on NHS England's clinical risk management standards DCB0129 and DCB0160 is now open.
These are the mandatory standards that protect patients by ensuring health IT systems are properly assessed for clinical risks – from electronic patient records to clinical decision support tools – before they are used in health and care settings.
The NHS Transformation Directorate are reviewing both standards to ensure they reflect advances in technology, including AI, interconnected systems and new data-sharing models.
They are particularly keen to hear from:
- Clinical Safety Officers
- Healthcare IT manufacturers and suppliers
- NHS digital and informatics professionals
- Clinical risk management and patient safety specialists
The consultation builds on 11 focus groups held with manufacturers, providers, and CSOs between January and July 2025.
The consultation closes on 11 September 2026.
